Facials, Peels and Dermabrasion
At Great Lakes Plastic & Hand Surgery, we offer a number of minimally-invasive facial rejuvenation treatments for our Michigan patients.
Refresh your complexion with one of the rejuvenating facials we offer. A facial deep-cleans your skin, and often involves exfoliation and extraction of impurities. You also can enjoy a facial massage to stimulate your skin and facial muscles. Toners and protective creams help protect your refreshed look, and our skin care professionals are also happy to provide at-home skin care tips and advice.
Various peels are available to minimize the appearance of wrinkling, sun-damage and acne scarring. Chemical peels use a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are used for this purpose. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient's needs. In addition to improving your appearance, chemical peels may also remove pre-cancerous skin growths, soften acne facial scars and even control acne.
Dermabrasion and Microdermabrasion
Dermabrasion helps to refinish the skin's top layers through a method of controlled surgical scraping. The treatments soften the sharp edges of surface irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance. Dermabrasionin is most often used to improve the look of facial skin left scarred by accidents or previous surgery, or to smooth out fine facial wrinkles, such as those around the mouth. It's also sometimes used to remove the pre-cancerous growths called keratoses. In our office, this procedure is performed by either Dr. Holley or Dr. Elluru.
Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair facial skin that takes a beating from the sun and the effects of aging. The esthetician performing the procedure uses a special diamond-tipped microdermabrasion wand to gently remove the dead, outer layer of skin. As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles and unwanted pigmentation.
