Breast Implants in Kalamazoo & Battle Creek

When it comes to your comfort and safety, there is no reason to settle for second best. In your consultation, your surgeon will walk through each option with you to make sure you feel confident with your choice of surgical approach and breast implants. Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Southwest Michigan breast augmentation patients have many different goals in mind, and Dr. Holley and Dr. Elluru make sure to guide each patient attentively and compassionately toward the look and feel they want.

The majority of Dr. Holley and Dr. Elluru's patients opt for traditional saline breast implants, but both Dr. Holley and Dr. Elluru also achieve great results with the latest generation of silicone-gel filled implants. They would be more than happy to answer your questions about each implant type and help you decide which option seems more attractive to you.

Find out more about your implant options in our personable patient atmosphere when you request a consultation online or contact the offices by phone at 269-329-2900 (Kalamazoo/Portage) or 269-979-0900 (Battle Creek).

Breast Implant Terms

Type: The contents of the implant. Implants can contain either a sterile saline solution or semi-solid silicone gel.
Shell: The outer surface of the implant. Saline and silicone gel implants both have a soft silicone shell, which can be either smooth or textured.
Shape: The overall design of the implant. Both saline and silicone implants can be either circular or anatomical ("teardrop" shaped).
Projection: The distance to which the breast implant extends forward from the chest wall. Implants can have a moderate or a high profile.
Placement: The location of the implant "pocket." Implants may be placed above or below the chest muscle during your breast augmentation surgery.

Breast Implants: Your Choices

The number of available choices for your implants may seem a little daunting, but our surgeons have years of experience identifying the right implant choices for patients of many different body shapes. They will be happy to explain the rationale behind the different approaches and help guide you toward a choice that meets your expectations and looks and feels natural for your body.

Dr. Holley and Dr. Elluru are committed to providing a high standard of care and safety, so they will address a number of factors in your consultation before you decide on an implant type. These include:

  • Your physiology: Your body shape and amount of existing breast tissue will help determine factors like implant width, type, and size, but a great breast enhancement surgeon strives to harmonize the requirements of your physiology with your personal preference. Your physical examination is the starting point for you and your surgeon to find that balance.

  • Your health history: Breast augmentation is an invasive surgical procedure, and while our surgeons have years of experience to help them ensure a smoother and more comfortable surgical process, safety is always their top priority. They will take the time to verify that you are physically and emotionally ready for the "new you."

  • Your goals: Our breast augmentation surgeons are highly attentive to the needs and desires of each patient, and they understand that for many women, a natural look and the new confidence they associate with a better breast shape are just as important as having a more proportional appearance. To ensure a pleasing result, your surgeon will discuss a number of options with you, and if necessary suggest an approach that integrates features of another procedure such as breast lift.

At Great Lakes Plastic & Hand Surgery, our highly trained surgeons and staff aim for the highest standards in comfort and satisfaction for each patient. To learn more, contact our offices today at 269-329-2900 (Kalamazoo/Portage) or 269-979-0900 (Battle Creek).
