Laser Skin Resurfacing
Kalamazoo and Battle Creek laser skin resurfacing procedures rejuvenate skin by using laser energy to remove areas of damaged or wrinkled skin, layer by layer. The procedure is most commonly used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially around the mouth and the eyes. However, it is also effective in treating facial scars or areas of uneven pigmentation, for example discoloration due to sun damage.
Laser resurfacing may be performed on the whole face or in specific regions. Often, a patient will receive this treatment in conjunction with another cosmetic surgery procedure such as a facelift or eyelid surgery, but for younger patients, especially, laser rejuvenation alone may offer very satisfactory results.
For most patients, laser skin rejuvenation will take about 45 minutes to perform, as the laser skin care specialist selectively destroys dead or discolored skin cells in order to stimulate regeneration. Most patients will experience mild swelling and redness for the first few days, but this fades quickly. Approaches that implement laser skin rejuvenation as a supplement to more intensive surgical procedures will require more time to recover, but your surgeon will be able to explain to you in detail how to ensure healthy healing from these kinds of combined procedures.
Many patients will experience some tightening effects from this procedure, but these may take a few weeks to develop fully. For certain patients, our surgeons and aesthetic skin care specialists may also recommend a supplemental skin care treamtent to help reverse the effects of aging and sun damage and restore your skin more fully.
