Meet Dr. Scott Holley

Dr. HolleyPresident and founder of Great Lakes Plastic & Hand Surgery P.C., Scott D. Holley, M.D., F.A.C.S. has helped repair, reshape, and rebuild people's lives in Southwest Michigan since 1997. "Our practice philosophy is simple: honest patient communication and the delivery of superior surgical results." He is a Battle Creek / Kalamazoo plastic surgeon who serves Grand Rapids, MI and other communities in Central and Western Michigan.

Dr. Holley's Training

Dr. Holley completed his undergraduate education at Purdue University and received his medical degree from The Indiana University School of Medicine. Following a five-year residency in General Surgery, he then completed a second two-year residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Dr. Holley's experience includes additional Fellowship training in Hand & Microsurgery at the Kleinert Institute in Louisville, KY, burn surgery at the Shriner's Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, and cosmetic surgery with Drs. Baker, Stuzin, and Gordon in Miami, FL.

A respected Battle Creek cosmetic and plastic surgeon, Dr. Holley is board-certified in General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and holds the Certificate of Added Qualification as a specialist in Hand Surgery. Professional memberships include the:

  • American Society of Plastic Surgeons
  • American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons
  • American College of Surgeons
  • American Medical Society
  • Michigan Association of Hand Surgeons
  • Michigan Association of Plastic Surgeons
  • Kalamazoo Medical Society.

Dr. Holley's Community Involvement

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Holley is committed to serving the medical community. Locally, he has acted as section head of Plastic Surgery for our hospitals and served as a delegate to the state medical society for the Kalamazoo Academy of Medicine. Dr. Holley has been elected to serve as president of the Michigan Association of Hand Surgery and has acted as a patient advocate on the Worker's Compensation Committee of the Michigan State Medical Society.

Nationally, Dr. Holley's work on committees for the American Society of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery led to his appointment to the Young Plastic Surgeons group of future leaders in plastic surgery. He is also proud to have worked with Interplast to provide surgical services overseas to third-world indigent children with birth defects.

Dr. Holley's Skill and Achievements

Staying abreast of developing innovation and technology is a challenge for each Battle Creek plastic and cosmetic surgeon, and is particularly important in the rapidly evolving field of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Holley's research is published in the leading plastic and hand surgery journals and he has lectured at universities in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Texas, Arizona and Washington. In fact, Dr. Holley has helped develop the exams that test the knowledge of training plastic surgeons and those seeking continuing education. Currently, he is a volunteer clinical faculty member in plastic surgery for Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and MSU and a frequent lecturer for physician, student, and service groups.

While recognition as a leader in plastic surgery is rewarding, achieving patient satisfaction on a daily basis is the true reward of clinical practice. Dr. Holley's approach is open, honest, and compassionate. He will take the time to fully understand the result you seek, review the technical options available, and answer any questions you may have. "Effective patient communication is every bit as important as surgical skill in achieving a successful outcome."
