Dr. Elluru

Raghuram G. Elluru, M.D., F.A.C.S. was born in India and came to the United States at the age of three. He grew up in Texas where he received the majority of his formal education. Dr. Elluru received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. He then completed medical school and earned his medical doctorate at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Elluru then completed a five year residency in General Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. He had the opportunity to work with nationally recognized surgeons in burn surgery, microsurgery, hand surgery, and cosmetic surgery. He then completed a two year fellowship in Plastic and Hand Surgery also at the Indiana University Medical Center. During his training Dr. Elluru performed a great deal of research and published numerous articles in the area of plastic and hand surgery, many of these articles have been published in national peer reviewed journals. Dr. Elluru then completed a fellowship at the prestigious Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery, in Louisville, Kentucky. The Kleinert Institute is considered one of the best training centers in the world for hand surgery.

Dr. Elluru is board certified in general surgery, plastic surgery, and hand surgery. He is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), and the Michigan Hand Surgery Society.

Local physicians know and respect Dr. Elluru as he is actively involved in the medical community through many county medical organizations. He is an officer in the Kalamazoo Academy of Medicine and is slated to be president of the organization. He is actively involved in resident education and is the director of plastic surgery training at KCMS. He holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University.

Dr. Elluru, his wife and four children reside in Kalamazoo and have called southwest Michigan home since l998. Dr. Elluru's hobbies include boating, playing golf and skiing.
